v-day this year

valentine’s day is tomorrow. do you have big plans? if so, enjoy!

for the blog, i thought about all the v-day chats we could have. i considered a gift list for family and friends, a post on what to wear for a romantic night out, and even a guide to good red undergarments. all worthy topics, i think, but none of them were giving me that happy feeling.

so then i got to thinking about st. valentine. legend or not, the man represents matters of the heart. he was a physician and priest who cared for his community by tending to the sick, and uniting couples in love even when it became forbidden. he chose to love even when it was inconvenient and dangerous, and he rejected a “neutral” position when it would have been much easier to do so. st. valentine’s instagram account would surely have been full of righteous hashtags like #loveoverhate, #loveoverfear, #nowallnoban, #grlpwr, #resist.

so instead of a list or a guide for february 14th, i’m offering a reminder. i’d like you to remember that, especially in these bumpy times, love is the answer. love of self, love of family, love of friends, love of “us”, and love of “them.” on tomorrow – be love.
